World Sommelier Academy of Bordeaux supports the Russian Wines Competition©.
The Russian Wines Competition© is supported by Worldsom (World Sommelier Academy of Bordeaux).
Worldsom was created on the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which also owns Vinexpo, BEM and IPC Vins.
Since 2013, Worldsom has been an international sommelier program which addresses professionals and everyone involved in the wine industry, aimed to enhance and perfect their sommelier knowledge and skills.
Courses are taught in English. They are designed by 4 Best Sommeliers of the world (G.Basset, P.Basso, S.Dubs P.Faure-Brac) and renowned experts in sommellerie. The courses last maximally 3 years.
More than 1,000 of the world’s wines along with spirits, teas and coffees are tasted within the program, which also addresses the technical, financial and legal aspects of sommellerie.
The training of 50 days comprises 7 modules, which can be taken separately. Here are the modules:
- Tasting Techniques and Sensory Analysis
- Sommelier Expertise
- Viticulture and Oenology
- Wine Cellar Creation and Management
- Knowledge of the French and Foreign Vineyards
- Wine and Food Pairing
- Customer Welcome and Customer Advice
This continuous training cycle, the only one of its kind in the world, is held in the emblematic Palais de la Bourse in Bordeaux.
At the end of the training, the Worldsom Magister (WSM) title and the international diploma of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bordeaux can be obtained after one’s sitting and passing special examinations.
My personal thanks to the management of Worldsom for their support.
