Caro MaurerMaster of Wine (Germany)

In 2011 Caro became the first female Master of Wine from German speaking countries. For almost 25 years Caro has been working as a wine writer, now sharing her writing time between the General-Anzeiger, a daily newspaper published in Bonn, Germany’s top food and wine magazine Der Feinschmecker (The Gourmet) and the British wine magazine Decanter.

Caro also works as a wine educator for WSET Diploma in Germany, Austria, Italy and Norway. As a member of the Education Committee of the Institute of Masters of Wine she is deeply involved in educating MW students.

Caro hosts educational seminars and tastings for numerous generic wine associations such as Wine Australia, Wines of New Zealand or VDP. She is on a panel of experts in international wine competitions. She is a panel chair at Decanter World Wine Awards in London. Besides, Caro gives the benefit of her professional expertise to the wine buying team of Edeka, Germany’s biggest supermarket chain.
