Klara KollarovaWeinakademiker (the Czech Republic)
Klara’ s wine career started quite accidentally while she was studying Cultural Anthropology at Charles University of Prague in 2002. Working in a wine bar quickly turned from serving customersinto a life project. She finished her studies writing a thesis on wine as a great intercultural subject.
She kept studying and contributed a lot of articles to the Czech wine magazines Vino Revue, Vinařský obzor and Wine & Degustation. She also did her professional wine tasting degree and anticipated a lot of wine problems.
But her true sommelier and wine career began in 2006 when a Michelin star restaurant La Degustation Boheme Bourgeois opened. When 6 years later she quit the job as the chef sommelier she was very knowledgeable about wine and food pairings as well as wine and service. By 2009 she had opened a small wine bar called Vinograf where she still works. She is also a co-owner of two more bars in Prague.
Meanwhile she has never stopped improving her theoretical and tasting skills.
She started Level 3 WSET in 2010, continued studies at Weinakademie Osterreich in Rust in 2012 and finished after a short break having been awarded the title of The Weinakademiker in November 2017. She also bears a special title of “The fine and rare wine specialist” from Palais Coburg, Vienna.
