Frank DuseigneurWinemaking Consultant (France)
Frank’s interest in wine runs in his family: his predecessors were wine producers in Algeria for over a hundred years. During his childhood, the wines of Domaine Duseigneur, his great uncle, which were produced on the right bank of the river Rhône, were on the dinner table of every respectable family. These wines excited his curiosity and it was natural for him to study at Science Agro, Bordeaux. Frank graduated from the faculty of Viticulture, Oenology and Wine business.
During the vintage season of 1998, he worked in Chateau Palmer (Margaux) and discovered the famous vintage wines of Médoc made by Philippe Delfaut, Technical Director of the estate.
Frank spent 1999 in Saint-Emilion. He wrote his dissertation on the «terroirs» of Chateau Faugères justifying the creation of an «élite cuvée», the Chateau Péby Faugères. Both «Сrus» finally entered the 2012 Saint-Emilion classification.
In Provence, Frank fell in love with the Grenache variety working for Les Vignerons de Canteperdrix. He thought of settling down and buying a vineyard at the foothills of Mont Ventoux but he did not want to drop the opportunity to create a wine estate in Russia.
So in 2003 Frank arrived at Krasnodar Region for his first harvest in Russia. He created and ran Chateau Le Grand Vostock, the emblem of the reborn Russian wines, for 8 years.
Frank is now challenging new goals working for Château de Talus and Cote Rocheuse where The New Russian Grand Crus will soon be produced.
