The Russian Wines Competition 2020 is supported by WorldSom
WorldSom, an international sommelier programme, has been training professionals and anyone involved in the wine industry since 2013, with the aim of enhancing and perfecting their sommelier knowledge and skills.
WorldSom is part of the Kedge Wine School, the wine department of the Kedge Business School, a global reference for wine education. Courses are taught at two sites in Paris and Bordeaux. They are designed by the programme director, Jeremy Cukierman MW, three Best Sommeliers of the World (P Basso, S Dubs and P Faure-Brac) and renowned experts in sommellerie. It is a part-time programme, with full course weeks only at the beginning and end of the programme. The rest of the course is taught on Mondays, enabling students to work the rest of the week. The courses last one year.
Hundreds of wines, as well as spirits, teas and coffees, from around the world are tasted during the programme, which also addresses the technical, financial and legal aspects of sommellerie. The programme also includes a wine trip and field visits.
The training comprises seven modules:
- Tasting Techniques and Sensory Analysis
- Sommelier Expertise
- Viticulture and Oenology
- Wine Cellar Creation and Management
- Knowledge of the French and Foreign Vineyards
- Wine and Food Pairing
- Customer Welcome and Customer Advice
WorldSom students also benefit from the wide network of the Kedge Wine School and its director.
It is a comprehensive sommelier programme for all young and aspiring sommeliers, wine lovers and anyone wishing to open a restaurant or wine bar and understand how to create and manage a wine list or wine cellar and serve wine with food.
I began my wine education at WorldSom in 2014, which gave me the foundation for my further development in the wine world. The knowledge I gained here has helped immensely in my work. I couldn’t imagine a better sommelier school. Now I am a Stage 2 MW Student, Weinakademiker, DipWSET and WorldSom Magister Sommelier.
“The sommelier profession is a noble one, one which requires special knowledge as well as the ability to listen and transfer experience. WorldSom pays great attention to the quality of its training programme, its graduates and professional wine expertise. We are pleased to support the Russian Wines Competition for the second time, the founder of which is Leonid Fadeev, one of our graduates. I participated in the first Russian Wines Competition in 2018 as a judge. It was organised at a highly professional level, and it gave me the chance to taste and discover numerous Russian wines. The wine industry is dynamically developing in Russia, as are exports of its wine. Therefore, it is important to be able to assess Russian wines objectively and consider the dynamics of its development compared to 2018" – commented WorldSom director Jeremy Cukierman MW.
My personal thanks to the management of WorldSom, and especially to Jeremy Cukierman MW, for their support of the Russian Wines Competition 2020.
