Zinfandel / Tribidrag / Primitivo
Zinfandel is a black grape variety used for red and rosé wine production. It is believed to originally come from Croatia. It is a mid- to late-ripening grape variety with medium-sized, compact bunches and small berries. It is susceptible to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews, as well as botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Zinfandel is often produced as a monovarietal wine, but is also used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Fermentation typically takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels.
