Semillon
Semillon is a white grape variety used for still dry and sweet wine production. It is believed to originally come from Bordeaux (France). It is a mid-ripening grape variety with medium-sized bunches and thin-skinned berries of medium size. It is susceptible to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Semillon produces monovarietal wines but is also used in blends with different grape varieties. A classic blending partner is Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, maturation – in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels.
