Roussanne
Roussanne is a white grape variety used for still dry wine production. It is believed to originally come from the Rhône Valley (France). It is a mid-ripening grape variety with compact, medium-sized bunches and relatively small berries. It is susceptible to powdery mildew (oidium) and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold), and is also wind-sensitive. Roussanne can produce monovarietal wines but is typically used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Marsanne, Viognier and Grenache Blanc. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, maturation – in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels.
