Mencia
Mencia is a black grape variety used for red wine production. It is believed to originally come from Bierzo (Spain). It is an early-budding and mid-ripening grape variety with small bunches and medium-sized, thick-skinned berries. It is susceptible to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews and tends to produce low yields. Mencia is produced as a monovarietal wine. Fermentation typically takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks and sometimes in oak barrels for a relatively short time.
