Malbec / Cot
Malbec is a black grape variety used for red wine production. It is believed to originally come from Cahors (France). It is a mid-ripening grape variety with medium-sized bunches and berries. It is susceptible to downy mildew, botrytis bunch rot (grey mold) and winter frost. Malbec is often produced as a monovarietal wine, but it is also used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Fermentation typically takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in oak barrels.
