Welschriesling / Graševina / Riesling Italico
Welschriesling is a white grape variety used for still dry and sweet wine production. It is believed to originally come from Croatia. It is a grape variety that buds and ripens late, with medium-sized bunches and thin-skinned berries of medium size. It is susceptible to powdery mildew (oidium) and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Welschriesling can produce monovarietal wines and is also used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Chardonnay and Grüner Veltliner. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks.
