Pinot Gris / Pinot Grigio / Grauburgunder
Pinot Gris is a white grape variety used for still dry, medium-dry, medium-sweet and sweet wine production. It is believed to originally come either from France or Germany. It is a grape variety that buds and ripens early, with small bunches and berries. It is susceptible to downy mildew and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Pinot Gris typically produces monovarietal wines but is also used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks.
