Pinot Blanc / Pinot Bianco / Weissburgunder
Pinot Blanc is a white grape variety used for still dry wine production. It is believed to originally come from France. It is a grape variety that buds and ripens early, with tight, medium-sized bunches and small berries. It is susceptible to fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew (oidium) and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold), but is cold-resistant. Pinot Blanc can produce monovarietal wines but is also used in blends with different grape varieties. A classic blending partner is Chardonnay. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks.
