Glera
Glera is a white grape variety used for sparkling wine production. Some authors believe it originally comes from northern Italy, while others say it originates from Istria (Croatia). It is a late-ripening grape variety with medium-sized to big bunches and berries of medium size. It is susceptible to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews, and is also drought sensitive. Glera produces monovarietal wines. In sparkling wine production, the tank method (second fermentation in a tank) is used.
