Garnacha Blanca / Grenache Blanc
Garnacha Blanca is a white grape variety used for still dry and fortified wine production. It is believed to originally come from Aragon (Spain). It is a mid-budding and mid-ripening grape variety with big bunches and medium-sized berries. It is susceptible to downy mildew and botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Garnacha Blanca can produce monovarietal wines but is also used in blends with different grape varieties. Classic blending partners are Viura, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Roussanne. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, maturation – in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels.
