Bonarda / Douce Noire
Bonarda is a black grape variety used for red wine production. It is believed to originally come from Savoie (France). It is a late-ripening grape variety with medium-sized bunches and thick-skinned berries of medium size. Bonarda is typically used in blends with different grape varieties, but it can also produce monovarietal wines. A classic blending partner is Malbec. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in oak barrels.
