Blaufränkisch / Kékfrankos
Blaufränkisch is a black grape variety used for red wine production. It is believed to be of Austrian-Hungarian origin. It is an early-budding but late-ripening grape variety with big bunches. It is susceptible to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews. Blaufränkisch typically produces monovarietal wines but can be blended with local and some international grape varieties. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks or in oak barrels.
