Bastardo Magarachskiy
Bastardo Magarachskiy is a black grape variety used for red wine production. It is a cross of Trousseau and Saperavi obtained at the Magarach research center (Crimea, Russia). It is a mid-ripening grape variety with compact bunches and berries of medium size. It is relatively resistant to downy and powdery (oidium) mildews, as well as drought tolerant, although it is susceptible to botrytis bunch rot (grey mold). Bastardo Magarachskiy produces monovarietal wines and can also be blended with local and international grape varieties. Fermentation usually takes place in stainless steel tanks, maturation – in stainless steel tanks.
