2017 Chernaya River Valley, Cler Polati, Pinot Noir. Uppa Winery
Crimea PGI,
Sevastopol,
Russia,
14% vol., 6 550
Grape variety: Pinot Noir
This wine is pale ruby in colour. It has a prematurely aged nose of medium-plus intensity, with aromas of leather, wet soil, liquorice, oak, tobacco leaves, cloves, nutmeg, olives and violets. It is initially fresh and balanced on the palate, although the fruit is on the overripe and jammy side, and the alcohol is slightly overwhelming, while the tannins start out quite ripe but then feel a little unripe on the medium finish. Ready for drinking with potential for ageing (1-3 years).
