2009 Château Canon, 1er Grand Cru Classe. Château Canon
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru AOC,
Bordeaux,
France,
14.5% vol., 180€
Grape variety: Merlot 75%; Cabernet Franc 25%
The wine is dark garnet in colour. A focused, complex and elegant nose of a strong intensity, an exquisite expression of the right bank of Bordeaux; mainly tertiary aromas, such as tobacco, leather, forest floor, pine, but there are also notes of dried blueberry, violet, black raisin, fried hazlenut and bay leaf. A full-bodied and harmonious wine on the palate in spite of being high in alcohol, with moderate acidity, velvety and still firm tannins; flavours of tobacco, dried black berries and spices in quite a long finish. Ready for drinking with a potential for ageing.
