Cote Rocheuse JSC is a sponsor of the Russian Wines Competition 2020
Cote Rocheuse JSC is a young agricultural enterprise founded in 2010. It specialises in cultivating international wine grape varieties (black - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir; white - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling) and one autochthonous variety - Krasnostop Zolotovsky.
The Cote Rocheuse JSC vineyard, which was laid out in three main phases from 2011 to 2013, extends over 30 hectares and is located in a picturesque part of the southwest of the Krasnodar region, close to the Black Sea coast and near Anapa. Masters of Wine and Weinakademikers who visited the Cote Rocheuse JSC vineyard as part of the first Russian Wines Competition in 2018 were very positive about what they saw. Renowned British wine expert Oz Clarke wrote in his book "Wine Atlas: Wines and Wine Regions of the World" that the most favourable region in Russia for growing grapes and producing high-quality wines is the area around Anapa.
The rootstocks and clones were both selected with a high quality harvest in mind. The optimal planting density of vines – 5000 vines per hectare – was also chosen for the same reason. The unique natural factors combined with the high quality of the vine seedlings purchased from the prestigious Mercier nursery in France is a guarantee of the purity and prestige of the grapes produced.
The proximity of the sea ensures a moderately humid climate with a low annual temperature difference. The mountainous terrain protects the area from north-easterly winds, while the southern and southwestern slopes benefit from more heat and light. The altitude of 150-300 metres above sea level is optimal for growing high-quality grapes, as are the humus-carbonate clay soils, rich in stones and gravel.
Painstaking and conscientious work has resulted in the establishment a European-standard vineyard on the site of an abandoned field. The staff includes residents of the Krasnodar region who are familiar with both the characteristics of the local terroir as well as agronomic and viticultural practices. The company cultivates grapes using modern agricultural technology and a scientific approach.
The construction and equipping of a modern gravity-flow winery for the production of premium and super-premium wines has been completed, a team of winemakers has been recruited and the processing of the first harvest has begun. Its debut wines will be released at the end of 2021. The range will consist of dry white and red wines, as well as traditional method sparkling wines.
This unique Cote Rocheuse JSC winery project was developed taking the local Anapa landscape and climate specifically into account. The architects finished off the concrete and glass building with a tasting room "Pebbles" with access to the roof, where guests can enjoy the magnificent panoramic views. The winery’s production capacity is 300,000 bottles per year.
